Election Protection
A great way to get more involved here in Red Hook is to become a poll worker or poll watcher. We truly need more folks to participate in this way. These are paid positions — including paid training — with opportunities for early voting shifts and on Election Day. It takes only a short training to get started, and it's an incredible way to learn about the security and processes of our elections.

NYS June Primary
Here in Red Hook, for our June 23rd primary, there is only ONE race on the ballot for us: New York State Comptroller.
Three candidates are running:
Tom DiNapoli — the 19-year incumbent who has grown the state pension fund to $295 billion, with backing from Gov. Hochul and major labor unions.
Raj Goyle — former Kansas state rep and civic leader who wants to divest from Palantir and Israel bonds and bring a fresh progressive approach to the office.
Drew Warshaw — former Port Authority chief of staff and affordable housing advocate who wants to cut Wall Street fees on pension fund management and invest in affordable housing.

2026 Pride Parade 🏳️🌈

Join Red Hook Democrats as we march together in the Red Hook Youth Pride Parade on Sunday June 7th, 2026! Youth led, all are welcome! Parade lineup is at 11:00 AM at Linden Avenue Middle School (LAMS). The parade will step off at 11:45 AM, followed by a community festival at the Village Municipal Parking Lot.

Join us for this Annual event with events in the Village planned from about 10-4pm. Come by and say hello at the Red Hook Democratic Committee tent at the corner near Yum Yum Noodle Bar! We'll have opportunities to sign up for campaigns and upcoming events, information about candidates who will be on the ballot this fall, and some of our amazing candidates and local leaders will be there in person to connect with folks and meet new faces from around Red Hook!

Petition Parties 📋

One of the most important things we’ll be doing in the coming weeks is petitioning to make sure our amazing candidates get on the ballot this cycle. You may see members of the Red Hook Democratic Committee out knocking on doors and gathering signatures to help make that happen.
If you’d like to sign a petition—and spend some time together in community—we’ll be hosting two petitioning gatherings:
Thursday, March 12, from 5–7 PM at Lasting Joy
Sunday, March 15, from 4–6 PM at Rose HillCome by, grab a drink, and take just a minute or two to sign a petition and participate in democracy.

Take Action
As local resistance efforts continue, we will share what we know of here, while staying focused on our mission to engage in building up the local Democratic community and supporting Democrats who run for office.
Mobilize: check https://www.mobilize.us/ for opportunities to take action, canvassing opportunities, phone banking, community events and other important calls to action in the pro-democracy space!
The app 5 Calls, makes it extremely easy to contact your representatives, including providing numbers and scripts for outreach. When doing so, always be sure to identify yourself and where you are from, including leaving your zip code in the voicemail if you have to leave one!
Saturday protests: folks continue meeting at the four corners in Red Hook at 12 noon each Saturday to protest ICE raids, authoritarianism, and more. This is not organized by a specific group, but though who do demonstrate, please remember patronize our local businesses and please do not block their entrances with your peaceful protesting. They are the center of our village and it is a core value of our party that we keep them thriving.
Hudson Valley Strong is one of the best spots to go for more regular updates on protest activities; it’s a local nonpartisan progressive organization out of the Indivisible movement and they have a helpful newsletter. https://www.hudsonvalleystrong.org/
